At ITMM our vision is to meet our community’s need for bringing more of Jesus’ unity between people of different socio-economic backgrounds.

Once you have a clear understanding of the needs, it’s time to implement strategies for engagement.
For the sake of keeping to the mission/focus of ITMM, I kept only the following two related strategies……
1. Create Inclusive Events
Plan gatherings that cater to diverse age groups, interests, and backgrounds. Events like cultural festivals, workshops, and volunteer drives can bring people together and foster unity.
Not to dismiss the above options in the least, but, we can even bring people together for a Bible Study! That’s the mission of this ministry.
2. Offer Educational Resources
Provide workshops, seminars, or online resources that empower members with knowledge and skills relevant to their needs.
ITMM’s version of this is to open up bridge-building conversations with the intent of only enhancing understanding for all parties concerned. Breaking down cultural walls of misunderstanding is a gentle, ongoing process in which we need the Holy Spirit to show up and speak His truth and wisdom to all of our hearts. It is our prayer that every one of us in the Bible study would receive the love and patience of Jesus, first and foremost. Greater unity with others who come from a different subculture/life experiences comes from each of us knowing the unconditional love of God. When we have a humble spirit, the Lord blesses us to be a blessing to those around us. “Easier said than done” if we know ourselves well, huh? When we are humble like A.A.’s Step #6*, we are in a place to receive more and more and more and more of God’s never-ending grace. (James 4:5,6*)
* Step # 6 states: “Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.”

I don’t consider myself to be a “leader” and I’m not trying to be “spiritual” by saying so. It is my heart to follow Jesus’ leadership as any sincere Christian does. He is my hope and confidence in stepping out in faith into the ministry of helping strengthen community relationships. (John 15:5)
How Can You Sustain Long-Term Engagement?

From where we are standing (ITMM just starting out), I’m not sure what the above will look like for us. But, I do believe the article’s advice is super important to incorporate into this ” baby” ministry. We WILL celebrate the little things (which, really aren’t so little in God’s eyes)….I AM committed to remaining an open door/being approachable to others’ thoughts every step of the way…. and DO want a flexible, tender heart to re-route when best to do so.
What challenges might we face in community building?
Common challenges include lack of resources, resistance to change, and low participation. Address these issues by staying persistent, seeking partnerships, and being inclusive.
How about the realm of spiritual warfare (which comes with the territory) in advancing God’s kingdom? It is a non-negotiable that the ministry must be covered by the prayers of His people. I beg you to pray, if nothing else!
Can small actions really make a difference?
Absolutely. Even small efforts, like checking in on a neighbor or starting a book club, can have a ripple effect that strengthens the community over time.
The relational nature of ITMM rests in the paramount importance of “behind the scenes”/invisible time well-spent. Being relational means that the ministry will be on a small scale. It is not necessary for us to meet on a one-on-one basis; but, we will purposefully limit the size to allow for each person to participate as much as he/she feels comfortable to do so. You could call us “small fry”, ha.
ITMM’s relational ministry also is primarily focused on our own personal growth (versus, our neighbor’s) and we strongly believe in creating a safe atmosphere to this end. Trust, indeed, is a fragile thing. Ultimately, safety and trust must be rooted in each person’s faith as we individually press into Jesus’ love and truth. As we each, by faith, daily practice those little choices in thought, word, and deed, the beautiful fruit of God’s Spirit pays forward and makes a big difference in how we relate to the world around us.
