August 18, 2025|Beautiful Scars, Beautifully Broken Oxymoron
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am happy you’ve stopped by! Let’s just hang out for a minute, shall we?
For starters, my prayer is for this blog to be a place where you can come on here and find encouragement and strength for the day you find yourself in. The world we live in – as beautiful a gift as it is – is indeed full of brokenness, sorrow, and pain. So, we will trust the Lord to show up and help us to see ourselves and the world through His eyes – as beautifully broken. How mysteriously God is that?
Above said, we are not here to solve the unsolvable. There are plenty of things in this life which we will not understand this side of eternity. A very wise, godly man named Richard Wurmbrand (who BTW went through a TON of heartache/hurt for the name of Jesus) once said, “Even the best of Christians are troubled by the question, ‘Why does an almighty God send, or at least allow, suffering?’ When you are nagged by thoughts like this, say to yourself, ‘I am still in elementary school. When I graduate from the university of Christian life, I will understand His ways better and doubts will cease.’ ”
In light of the above, faith is the game-changer (as opposed to it being a cop-out/head-in-the-sand type of thing). My prayer for myself and for you is that we will know the power of God to step out into the scary realm of living beyond our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5,6); and by doing so, step into God’s peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
I love the phrase in the song below where she sings about “beautiful scars.” Do we see our own scars as beautiful or are they still ugly, shameful scars? I’d encourage you to ask Jesus to help you know His healing touch, in the case of the latter. He is such a gentle Healer. Know that
